The Tuason Racing School introduced its first diesel-powered Ford Focus race car which was launched recently in the Manila Autoshow at the World Trade Center in Buendia, Pasay City. A first of its kind, the car was conceptualized in line with the collaborated thrust of TRS and Ford Philippines for a “Green Motorsports Program” to promote the use of environment-friendly biodiesel in race cars and daily travel routines. Though using a stock engine, the Ford Focus Diesel car was “surprisingly fast” during its test runs and will be used in TRS training clinics, the forthcoming Ford Focus Diesel Cup and other activities lined up this year with the support of Ford, Petron Diesel Max, Standard Insurance, Goodyear, Bioactive, H&R, K&N, Speedlab, Winner Graphics, Starbrights Body Kits, Dupont, OMP, AIM and media partners: C! Magazine, NU 107, Mr. & Ms. Business World and Ford Club Philippines. The Ford Focus Diesel runs on a 136 horsepower, two-liter TDCI Turbo Diesel engine with tested safety modifications like rollcages, bucket seats, racing suspensions racing brake pads, braided breaklines and air filter. Potential racecar drivers can have the first-hand experience of the car in the coming 2008 Tuason Racing School, the country’s first and only professional racing school now on its 9th year of training and developing Filipino racing champs. TRS is aimed at creating a cost effective training ground that would put Filipinos in the Global competition or even in Formula One Racing. “TRS believes Filipinos are cut out to be good race car drivers all we need is opportunity and support,” said JP Tuason, president of the Tuason Racing and a multi-awarded race car driver who made his mark from karting to Formula 3 racing both in the local and international scene. JP heads the teaching staff that boasts of highly trained instructors including TRS Technical and Operations Manager Mike Tuason, who’s also a multi-awarded racer himself. Classes start April 26.
